Beauty Decisions Worth MakingClear and Brillant Laser Facial Treatment: Clear and Brillant Laser Facials are one of my favorite facials to get before any event. It can help with hyperpigmentation and texture over time. Anyone can use these types of facials as this laser works well on Black skin. I get my facials done at Laser Away. La Mer Treatment Lotion: Hydration, hydration, hydration is one of the ways you can fix hyperpigmentation while moisturizing and hydrating the skin. I love this treatment lotion as it is the perfect spot after a balancing or acne-fighting toner to add hydration back into the skin. It is like a watery serum. A little goes a long way. It's priced at 190 USD. Oils for Different Skin Types: I love using a light facial oil for my gua sha tool and facial massages. I like the La Mer Renewal Oil (priced at 150 USD) for this spa ritual. I also like the Clean Mundi Body Oil for Body Gua Sha (priced at 39 USD) too. Both work well on acne-prone, combination skin. I have used it during humid and winter seasons in New York and Atlanta. Rescue Spa's Bio-Lift Facial: It's like magic. It lifts, firms and tightens your skin. I love getting this microcurrent-based facial as it helps lift the skin and firm my skin bones overtime. I used this facial before a photoshoot and it was perfect. Several New York-based celebrities get this style of facial done before red carpet and high photography events. It's priced at 300 USD. The Ancient Art of Nail ReadingIn the private newsletter issue, I spoke about the ancient art of nail divination reading! It's an exciting issue where I dive into how I learned the art of nail reading called Onychomancy, how I use it, why I use it in my beauty practice and why it is a fun aspect to add into your life. Here's a brief look of the post: Onychomancy is the art of nail reading divination. It dates back to the Babylonian times when they would apply water and oil to a boy’s nail and divine the symbols that came forth. I learned it from Kikimancy as an addition to my background in beauty education, astrology, color theory, and beauty history. It is a beautiful art that you can use as nails are a part of the nervous system and you can read your nails & others for what you may need at a time. I can easily read someone’s nails now at random before asking for their natal chart. I have been reading nails for three years now alongside my own practice. If you are interested in a nail reading, you can respond back to to email.
Tastemaker Spotlight: Despina DaniilidisDespina Daniilidis has taken all her years of experience to create her spa, PEAU’ésie, as the Founder, CEO, and Lead Aesthetician. Who introduced you to the power of beauty?I suppose I’ll start off with this — What is beauty? How does one define a definition so… indefinite? I believe beauty encompasses what makes up my dearest treasures in life, like music on repeat, extra ice, warm hugs…
Though in the sphere of the beauty of the world of skin care, I felt most connected and introduced to it when I first laid eyes on Too Cool For School’s Egg Mousse Soap when I strolled into Sephora during my lunch break in college back in 2017 — I remember that day like it happened simply yesterday. I didn’t really have a solid skin care routine at the time, let alone know anything about K-beauty. I purchased the cleanser, went home later that evening and dove into the phenomenon that is double-cleansing and the traditional 10-step K-beauty routine. I had to instantly purchased The Little Book of Skin Care by Charlotte Cho, founder of Soko Glam, a K-beauty online retailer which also allowed me to discover the power of skin care and beauty in a way that enamoured me so deeply. Soon after, I found myself enrolled in esthetics school after graduating college and here I am now, sitting in my very own skin spa and safe space.
